Using acupuncture to treat infertility
Some couples know about specific problems like low AMH levels, poor sperm quality, PCOS, endometriosis, and recurrent miscarriage. Nevertheless, many cases of infertility are unexplained. Identifying a cause can be hard. Karen Jeffery at Colchester acupuncture has undergone several specialist fertility training courses. She has more than fifteen years of experience treating fertility issues with both acupuncture and herbs. Karen has helped many couples in Colchester and Essex to conceive.
How can acupuncture improve your chance of conceiving?
Acupuncture treatment for patients is carried out according to both their western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis. The aim is to improve blood flow to the reproductive organs by using acupuncture and sometimes herbs. This approach balances the hormones. It also stabilizes the emotions, making conception easier. Patients see improvements in both their physical and emotional wellbeing, which helps with fertility issues.
Fertility blood test
As a trained Phlebotomist, I’m able to offer blood testing through Forth laboratories. It tests for Amh which can indicate your Ovarian reserve, FSH and LH plus your thyroid hormones. Patients wishing to include this are advised to purchase the test kit and I can take the blood sample. Contact me in advance of your appointment.
Using the basal body temperature charting (BBT)

BBT can help provide vital information relating to fertility
We don’t want to put too much pressure on things, so if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all then I’m always keen to encourage patients to relax a bit when it comes to tracking and testing. When you know how to interpret the BBT, it can provide valuable information as to, ‘whats going on in the cycle’. We can see when ovulation is occurring, the stability of the hormones and hopefully a good sustained progesterone rise after ovulation.
